Types Of Scanning Guns

1. Handheld scanning gun

The hand-held scanning gun is a product formed by the technology launched in 1987. It looks like the bar code scanning gun used by the cashier in the supermarket. Most of the portable scanning guns use CIS technology, with an optical resolution of 200dpi. There are black and white, gray and color types, of which the color type is generally 18 bit color. There are also some high-end products that use CCD as a photosensitive device, which can realize true color and good scanning effect.

2. Small roller scanning gun

This is the intermediate product of hand-held scanning gun and platform scanning gun (a new product has appeared in recent years, which is called notebook scanning gun because of its built-in power supply and small volume). Most of these products adopt CIS technology, with optical resolution of 300dpi, and there are two kinds of color and gray scale. The color model is generally 24 bit color. There are also a few small drum type scanning guns that use CCD technology, and the scanning effect is obviously better than that of CIS technology products. However, due to structural limitations, the volume is generally significantly larger than that of CIS technology products. The small roller type is designed to fix the lens of the scanning gun, while the moving object to be scanned is scanned through the lens. In operation, like a printer, the object to be scanned must be sent out through the machine.

3. Platform scanning gun

Also known as flat plate scanning gun and desktop scanning gun, most of the scanning guns in the market belong to flat plate scanning guns and are the mainstream. The optical resolution of this type of scanning gun is between 300dpi and 8000dpi, the number of color bits is from 24 bits to 48 bits, and the scanning format is generally A4 or A3. The advantage of the flat plate type is that, like the copier, as long as the upper cover of the scanning gun is opened, books, newspapers, magazines and photo negatives can be placed on it for scanning, which is quite convenient, and the scanning effect is the best among all common types of scanning guns.

4. Others include large format scanning gun, pen type scanning gun, bar code scanning gun, negative film scanning gun (note that it is not a flat plate scanning gun with penetration scanning, but the effect is much better, and the price is certainly expensive), physical scanning gun (not a flat plate scanning gun with physical scanning capability, which is somewhat similar to a digital camera), and roller type scanning gun mainly used in the field of industrial printing and typesetting.
